PLEIN AIR OIL PAINTING WORKSHOP

Plein Air Oil Painting Workshop 

3 hours, Max 4 Pupils, All Materials included.

Develop an oil-painted landscape directly from observation in the beautiful South Downs. We will begin by exploring the surroundings and choosing a nearby vista or natural corner of vegetation for your canvas composition.

Students will establish the overall tonal structure with a warm-coloured underpainting before developing the painting through colour, light, atmosphere and texture. We will also explore how everyday man-made elements — such as telephone poles, overhead wires and signposts — can add a contemporary, relatable twist to the traditional landscape.

Shelter will be provided in case of inclement weather. Suitable for beginners and those with previous experience. Tea and cake provided at breaktime.
