Animal Skulls: Light & Shadow Workshop
Working from a dramatic still life of large animal skulls, participants will explore form, structure and texture through expressive drawing. Using large sheets of textured brown parcel paper, they will work with chalk and charcoal to capture the powerful shapes of the skulls under carefully arranged, dynamic lighting.
The workshop encourages bold, gestural mark-making, exploring light, shadow, tone and negative space rather than simply outlining what is seen. Participants will create a striking large-scale drawing that combines the raw texture of the paper with the dramatic tonal qualities of charcoal and chalk.
